Q & A |
|
|
We will
use this page to regularly answer questions from the
community (incl. rumours we hear). If you have
questions concerning the development of CARA or hear
strange things (e.g. from certain well known
exponents ;-) ), send us an email and we will put an
official statement here.
|
Q: Is CARA continued to be
developed and maintained?
A: Definitly yes. There are no plans to
cease development. Quite the contrary is
true (see
here).
The intention is not to implement every
imaginable feature in CARA, but to provide a
robust platform, where other community
members can independently implement and
maintain their own ideas and algorithms (as
it happens e.g. with Autolink).

|
Q: Will CARA remain free also
in future?
A: Yes, there are no intentions at all to
change that. CARA is a scientific project
with no commercial goals, though the
responsibles on their own of course
participate in commercial projects, and
there is also no obligation for people who
write their own applications on top of
CARA/Lua to deploy them for free.
And of course nobody objects if you want to
make a donation ;-)

Q: Have the rights of CARA
really been vested in Bruker?
A: No, not at all. The ownership of CARA
hasn't changed since it's inception and
there are no plans to do so. CARA continues
to be developed and supported by the same
people and in cooperation with the same
scientific groups. Bruker has been granted
the permission (for free, without any
obligation) to deploy CARA toghether with
their software TopSpin, for the convenience
of users who want to make use of e.g. the
TopSpin-Autolink integration.
